I have installed the trial version of the software and successfully registrying the software, but I get "Error: Could not open database" when I try to start the program. What should I do to fix this?

These errors probably appear because the installation of the trial was done without sufficient permission rights during install.

You would most likely solve this issue if you re-install the trial software, but make sure that you run the installation by right-clicking the install file and select "Run as Administrator" (even if you are logged in as administrator).
